Vodafone Ghana’s has opened entries for questions for their flagship health initiative ‘Healthline’. Ghanaians are once again invited to text their questions on health matters to shortcode 1788 across all networks or visit the Vodafone Ghana facebook page on www.facebook.com/vodafone healthline. The questions will be answered by a panel of doctors in season two of the pioneering television show which captured the hearts and minds of Ghanaians last year.
In an address to the media, Head of Corporate Communications at Vodafone Ghana, Carmen Bruce- Annan explained the need for people to text in their health questions The questions people ask will determine the content of the show. We want to empower people to take control of their own health practices and this starts with giving them accurate, reliable information which is relevant to them. We will cover any topic that the public demands because if it is a health concern to them then it is important that we address it’
In the last season of Healthline, over 10,000 questions were submitted by the public, which was used to develop the content of both the television and the radio show. Following the success of both the radio and TV show, more questions are expected from the public for the next season and the television programme will be adapted to address the many health concerns of the public. Members of the public are now also able to submit their questions by visiting the Healthline facebook page at www.facebook.com/vodafone healthline.
Carmen Bruce-Annan reaffirmed Vodafone’s commitment to making a difference in the health sector in Ghana ‘Healthline in its many forms is here to stay. Knowledge about common health issues and practices can improve our lifestyle and even save lives so it is important that we give accurate, reliable information. The public’s reaction to last season’s show indicates that there is a need for an initiative such as Healthline and as long as there is an interest we will continue to bring it to the people.’
For the next four weeks the shortcode 1788 will be open to everyone to text in their questions on any health topic they are interested in. The television show will be coming soon on all major television networks.
