Press Release:
Due to a recent merger with the National Independent Medical Aid Society (NIMAS), Resolution Health has boosted its beneficiary base, solvency ratio and product offering to become one of the key industry leaders in South Africa. The merger, approved by the Council for Medical Schemes, was finalised on 1 August 2012 and according to independent financial consultants, consolidation within the industry is an emerging trend largely driven by the impending implementation of the National Health Insurance. “The amalgamation has witnessed Resolution Health’s entry into the top 10 largest open medical schemes in South Africa and has significantly increased our market share, financial position and long-term sustainability,” said Mark Arnold, principal officer for Resolution Health.
Approximately 16 300 former NIMAS members have now moved to Resolution Health, increasing its beneficiary base to over 86 000 members. All the NIMAS medical aid options apart from the Core option have been switched across to appear under the Resolution Health banner, growing an already comprehensive product portfolio to eight flexible medical aid plans. Resolution Health managed to buck the trend of negative growth in 2011, registering a 20.8 percent escalation in member numbers. With the amalgamation now realised, industry experts are quoting low risk, exceptional value for money and an even more impressive beneficiary base as core reasons why Resolution Health should be one of the first medical aid service providers consumers should look to for exceptional medical aid cover. Established in 1998 as Commercial Union Health, Resolution Health is now one of the main players in the medical aid sector.
It offers a comprehensive bouquet of medical aid plans tailored to individual requirements with the Foundation, Hospital, Progressive Flex, Progressive Saver and Prestige Options further enhanced by the NIMAS product range. Apart from international travel cover and the ResoBaby maternity programme, members have access to countless benefits including savings at shopping and retail outlets via the Zurrel4life rewards programme. Resolution Health is one of 10 medical aid service providers featured online by IFC Independent Financial Consultants, a comprehensive medical aid comparison website that provides all the vital financial indices, overviews of all the plans and packages and enables a quick medical aid comparison with the click of a mouse.
