Mobile healthcare services company UCrest Bhd has partnered with Rwanda-based digital payment platform StayOnline Ltd to integrate their payment gateways into UCrest’s digital healthcare platform, iMedic. UCrest chairman Eg Kah Yee announced that the integrated payment gateway with StayOnline will be available within a few months, as the company aims to digitise the healthcare industry in African countries including Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia.

The partnership will enable StayOnline’s merchants to expand their reach and market their services to Asia through the integrated payment platform.

“iMedic is now available in Africa, currently using its own gateway. Once the agreement with StayOnline is finalized in the coming months, the integrated payment gateway will be operational,” Eg said during an online press conference. “We plan to equip hospitals with iMedic’s artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and have an agreement to establish a center of excellence for digital healthcare research in Rwanda, positioning it as a medical technology hub.”

Eg also highlighted that the center of excellence will focus on research and development in the Internet of Medical Things (IMOT) and AI within the healthcare sector. “With our digital health services on the integrated platform, we are extending healthcare access not just within the country, but across Africa and globally,” he added.

StayOnline CEO Desire Muhinyuza noted that this collaboration marks a new era of digital healthcare in Rwanda and across Africa. He emphasized that with UCrest’s expertise, StayOnline can leverage its digital payment platform to handle between 200,000 and 800,000 transactions per day, tapping into East Africa’s population of 480 million
