MedEnhanz Resources, a Nigerian private company focused on leveraging information technology to improve healthcare and clinicians’ efficiency has been recognized the winner of Healthcare Technology Provider of the Year in the 2015 edition of the most prestigious health service award in the country. It was in recognition of the company’s innovative and effective solutions deployed for the improvement of the field of healthcare in Nigeria. The highest honour for unparalleled excellence in the Nigeria Health sector, was given on June 26, 2015 at a red carpet event organized by Nigeria Healthcare Excellence Awards (NHEA). The ballroom of Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos was packed with nominees and guests.
According to NHEA, the award is to confirm the position of recipients as market leaders in their specific categories, and also validate their efforts and give a vote of confidence in the activities and products of the winners.
Professor Soyibo Adedoyin, Chairman, panel of judges while addressing guests at the event captures the honour with the following statements: “The award was part of the initiative by Global Health Projects and Resources and Anadach Group, USA to reward dedicated healthcare professionals throughout the country who worked tirelessly to care for the citizens of Nigeria. We recognise them all by honouring a special few who have demonstrated leadership, brilliance and bravery through their commitment, expertise and selflessness on behalf of the health community and the patients they serve”.
MedEnhanz has surely distinguished itself as healthcare IT provider when it developed and introduced point-of-care clinical reference into the country and was approved by the Federal Ministry of Health to develop and deploy the Nigerian Standard Treatment Guidelines into an interactive format for physicians to access on its platform.
Medical and Dental council of Nigeria (MDCN) also mandated MedEnhanz to conduct a pilot study on technical feasibility of delivering web-based continuing professional development (CPD) activities in Nigeria using Learning Management System developed by the company. Following completion of the pilot scheme that provided insights for MDCN, the regulatory body accredited and licensed MedEnhanz as a pioneer online CPD provider. That effort now offers medical practitioners in remote places opportunity to fulfill their annual mandatory requirements for license renewal without the cost of travel or having to close their health facilities in search of traditional CPD activities. Even doctors in the cities now access continuing education using the company’s on demand offerings on their tablet computers and smartphones.
The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Dokun Dairo (a practicing physician) said he and his partners at MedEnhanz are committed to bridging the digital gap in Nigerian health landscape with innovations that put tropicalized point-of-care clinical resources and continuing medical education at the desks, palms and pockets of doctors.
